Breaking News... Gülistan Doku investigation: Red notice issued for fugitive Umut Altaş
A red notice has been issued for fugitive suspect Umut Altaş in the Gülistan Doku investigation.
Following the decision to treat the Gülistan Doku case as a homicide investigation, an operation was launched on April 14 under the instructions of the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Of the suspects detained during the operation, 11 were arrested by the court and sent to prison. It was determined that Umut Altaş, one of the critical figures in the investigation, had fled abroad before the operation.
RED NOTICE PROCESS INITIATED
The Ministry of Justice has initiated red notice procedures, which include an international search process along with a request for provisional arrest, to apprehend Altaş.
NOTIFICATION SENT TO INTERNATIONAL UNITS
According to Ministry of Interior sources, the Interpol-Europol Department of the General Directorate of Security accelerated the process and notified the relevant units. Official notification was sent to all units affiliated with Interpol, primarily in the USA and Mexico, stating that Umut Altaş is wanted for the crime of "intentional killing." Following the completion of the procedures, a red notice valid worldwide was issued for the suspect.
ASSESSMENT OF ESCAPE ROUTE
Technical analyses and investigations conducted by security units have revealed findings regarding the suspect's possible escape route. Accordingly, it is assessed that Umut Altaş left Turkey in 2022, traveled to Mexico, and may have subsequently crossed the United States border illegally.
