Breaking News: Hospital statement on Sırrı Süreyya Önder's health condition!

DEM Party Imralı Delegation member and Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder has been hospitalized due to a heart condition.

Önder, who was taken into surgery around 23:30 last night, underwent an operation that lasted approximately 10 hours.

Following the surgery, the hospital issued a statement regarding Önder's health condition.

The statement from the hospital reported that Önder's life remains in danger.

The statement read as follows:

"Mr. Sırrı Süreyya Önder was brought to our hospital's Emergency Unit on 15.04.2025 at approximately 22:41 by 112 Ambulance teams, pulseless, intubated, and while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Following approximately 10 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in our emergency department, spontaneous circulation was achieved and a pulse was detected. As a result of an emergency echocardiography, it was determined that he had a Type I Aortic Dissection (bleeding into all layers of the entire aorta, including the main aorta exiting the heart, the aortic arch, and the descending aorta).

Subsequently, at 23:05, he experienced a recurrence of arrhythmia, and his pulse and circulation stopped. Our patient was urgently taken to the operating room with cardiac massage, and the operation began at 23:35.

During the surgery, it was determined that the aortic dissection started from the right coronary artery and encompassed the entire aorta. A coronary bypass was performed on the right coronary artery, the aortic valve was replaced, and grafting and anastomosis procedures were completed along the entire aorta.

However, due to the magnitude of this dissection and the fact that it involved the right coronary artery that feeds the heart, despite all surgical processes being successful, the right half of the heart is not contracting well, while the left half is contracting well.

Following the surgery, which lasted nearly twelve hours, our patient, Mr. Önder, was admitted to our Intensive Care Unit supported by ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).

His life remains in danger."
