Breaking News: İmamoğlu's message: 'The ballot box will come, the government will change!' 'You know your time is running out'

The government has stepped up its operations against CHP-run municipalities. Yesterday morning, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, and Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere were detained in dawn raids.

Muhittin Böcek was arrested by the court he was brought before last night and sent to prison.

While public reaction to the operations against CHP municipalities continues to pour in, a new statement has come from CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned at Silivri Prison.

In his message, İmamoğlu said, "You desired to see the CHP in opposition forever. You were afraid of losing the election. You were willing to set the country on fire just to avoid leaving the seat you are clinging to. But this great nation stood before you. You became desperate. You were afraid."

Continuing his message, İmamoğlu stated, "Neither the CHP nor the noble children of this nation will ever give up on the democracy they won with great effort. They will fight at any cost against those who want to abolish the ballot box," and added the following:

"You also know that your time is running out. No threat, no detention, no slander will save you. The ballot box will come. The government will change. This dirty order of yours will end."

The full text of İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:

"The lawlessness you have initiated in Istanbul has now turned into a regime crisis. First, you tried to deceive the public by saying 'there is corruption.' When that didn't work, you increased your oppression. You gave yourselves away.

You desired to see the CHP in opposition forever. You were afraid of losing the election. You were willing to set the country on fire just to avoid leaving the seat you are clinging to.

But this great nation stood before you. You became desperate. You were afraid. As you became afraid, you became more aggressive. You arrested and detained more mayors.

So, what are you hoping for?

What will happen if you arrest everyone who objects? How long will you run from that ballot box? The nation is aware that you are not handcuffing mayors, but their own will. We are aware of it too. This struggle is not just to defend a few cities or mayors, but to keep Turkey in democracy. You want us to drop this matter.

We will not drop it. Neither the CHP nor the noble children of this nation will ever give up on the democracy they won with great effort. They will fight at any cost against those who want to abolish the ballot box.

You also know that your time is running out. No threat, no detention, no slander will save you. The ballot box will come. The government will change. This dirty order of yours will end."
