The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has announced that the investigation launched into the tragedy in the Pençe-Kilit Operation region, where 12 soldiers were martyred, has been completed.
In the official statement, the public was informed about the results of the administrative investigation conducted regarding the incident in which the soldiers lost their lives due to gas exposure. The Ministry reported that, according to the findings obtained within the scope of the investigation, the conclusion was reached that "there was no direct element of negligence or intent in the incident."
"NO NEGLIGENCE, INTENT, OR WEAKNESS INVOLVED"
Another detail highlighted in the MSB's statement was that some soldiers who were not on duty at the time of the incident displayed a great example of self-sacrifice to save their comrades-in-arms. The statement said, "It has been determined that there was no disciplinary weakness or lack of control/management, and that some of our personnel who were not on duty at the time of the incident entered the cave without waiting for orders, disregarding their own lives with a sense of camaraderie, and prevented more severe consequences thanks to their determination to save their friends."
