Breaking News: Investigation launched into social media posts regarding terror attack that left 3 police officers martyred
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has announced that it has launched an ex officio investigation into social media posts alleged to contain disinformation following the clash in Yalova during an operation against ISIS, which resulted in the martyrdom of 3 police officers.
During an operation conducted against the ISIS terrorist organization in Yalova, a clash broke out after suspects opened fire on security forces. In a statement made hours after the incident, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 3 police officers were martyred, and 8 police officers and 1 watchman were injured.
Following the clash, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action on the grounds that some content shared on social media regarding the incident was contrary to the truth and misleading to the public. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reported that an ex officio investigation has been launched into the posts in question.
The statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office included the following:
"An ex officio investigation has been launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of Publicly Spreading Misleading Information regarding the posts that are contrary to the truth and contain disinformation made from various social media accounts concerning the terror attack that occurred in the province of Yalova on 28.12.2025."
