The Israeli military has announced the launch of a comprehensive ground offensive targeting the north and south of Gaza. In the new phase, dubbed "Operation Gideon’s Chariots," it was stated that hundreds of Hamas targets have been struck.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have launched a large-scale ground offensive simultaneously targeting the northern and southern regions of the Gaza Strip.
In a written statement issued by the IDF, it was noted that this operation is named "Operation Gideon’s Chariots."
"OPERATION GIDEON’S CHARIOTS" HAS BEGUN
The statement indicated that an "opening strike" had been carried out throughout the past week as preparation for ground operations, and shared information that more than 670 targets belonging to Hamas were hit during this process.
It was reported that the points targeted in Israel's strikes included weapons depots, underground tunnel networks, anti-tank missile launch positions, and areas where Hamas militants were stationed.
According to the IDF statement, ground troops are receiving regular support from the air force as they advance across the Gaza Strip. It was stated that Israeli fighter jets are continuing their airstrikes against targets in the region in parallel with the advance of the ground troops.
