BREAKING NEWS... Israeli airstrike on Damascus: General Staff headquarters targeted

Syrian state news agency SANA reported that a loud explosion was heard in the capital, Damascus, during the night. While no initial information was provided regarding the source of the explosion, it was reported that an investigation into the details of the incident has been launched. The explosion, which echoed across the skies of Damascus, caused panic in the city.

"WE STRUCK THE GENERAL STAFF HEADQUARTERS"

Shortly after the explosion, an official statement came from the Israeli military. The statement reported that an airstrike was carried out against the entrance gate of the General Staff headquarters located in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Sharing the initial information regarding the attack, the Reuters news agency, citing two Syrian security sources, had reported that Israel had targeted the Syrian Ministry of Defense. However, the Israeli military clarified that the target of the attack was the entrance to the General Staff headquarters.

FOLLOWS THE SUWAYDA ATTACK

This critical Israeli strike in Damascus comes at a time when clashes between regime forces and armed groups are escalating in Syria's Suwayda region, which has a dense Druze population. Israeli warplanes had recently carried out a total of seven airstrikes on the Salkhad Military Airport east of Suwayda and the city center.

"WE ARE MONITORING THE PRESSURE ON DRUZE CIVILIANS"

The Israeli military cited the Syrian regime's actions against Druze civilians as the justification for the strike on Damascus. The statement included the following remarks:

“The Israeli military is closely monitoring the regime's pressure on Druze civilians and developments in southern Syria. In line with instructions from the political echelon, it continues its operations in the region and remains prepared for possible scenarios.”
