The Forensic Medicine Institute has ordered a re-examination for Çalık, who lost 21 kilos in prison and has previously beaten cancer twice.

Çalık's mother, Gülümser Çalık, addressed the authorities in a statement today, saying, "I am helpless. I do not want to live through '99 again. I do not want my son to slip through my fingers.
