Breaking News: New statement from Ali Yerlikaya regarding stray animals!

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, making a statement regarding the regulation on stray animals, announced that 39 civil service inspectors will conduct investigations across all 81 provinces. Stating that administrative investigations will be launched if negligence by municipalities regarding stray animals is identified, Yerlikaya said, "We are working to ensure there are no more Ranas or Eslems."

Breaking News: New statement from Ali Yerlikaya regarding stray animals!

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya spoke about the regulation on stray animals during his speech in Batman.

Announcing that 39 civil service inspectors have been sent to 81 provinces and that these inspectors have been given a 14-day investigation period, Yerlikaya stated that the inspectors will examine the practices of governorates, metropolitan municipalities, and provincial special administrations on-site, adding: "This is not an investigation, but a situation assessment. We will identify areas of negligence and ensure that necessary measures are taken." he said.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that they will share the inspectors' findings with the public in a transparent manner, stating: "We will send inspectors to our 81 provinces every two months. If no work has been done, we will first issue a warning, and then we will do what is necessary." he expressed.

On the other hand, reminding that an inspector has been assigned regarding the death of Eslem, who lost her life as a result of a stray dog attack, Yerlikaya said, "They completed the investigation and I saw that there was negligence. For this reason, I granted permission for an investigation. We will continue to assign inspectors for every citizen who is injured or loses their life due to attacks by stray animals." he said.

"SOME MUNICIPALITIES ARE COLLECTING ANIMALS AND DROPPING THEM OFF WITHIN THE BORDERS OF OTHER MUNICIPALITIES"

Stating that they have received numerous complaints that some municipalities are collecting stray animals and dropping them off within the borders of other municipalities, Yerlikaya announced that they will launch administrative investigations if this situation is confirmed.

The Minister listed the steps that need to be taken regarding stray animals as follows:

  • Rapid establishment of living spaces,
  • Provision of treatment and rehabilitation services,
  • Prevention of uncontrolled reproduction through spaying and neutering,
  • Finding homes for stray animals.

Stating that all these efforts are being made to prevent new tragedies from occurring, Yerlikaya said, "We are striving to ensure there are no more Ranas or Eslems."
