Breaking News: Operation at Çankaya Municipality in Ankara! First statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office

Police teams have conducted an operation at the Çankaya Municipality in Ankara.

Teams arrived at the municipal building in the morning hours and began searches in various departments. It was learned that a large number of people were taken into custody as part of the operation. It was stated that search and investigation efforts at the municipal building are ongoing.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that detention warrants were issued for 36 people, including Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, on charges of establishing a criminal organization, being a member of a criminal organization, bribery, and bid rigging, and that 27 people have been taken into custody.

The statement from the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:

Within the scope of the work carried out by the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Anti-Financial Crimes Branch under the coordination of our Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office;

It has been decided to detain 36 suspects in total, including Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, on charges of establishing a criminal organization, being a member of a criminal organization, bribery, and bid rigging, and to conduct search and seizure operations at their addresses; in this context, 27 of the suspects have been taken into custody.

Investigation procedures for the apprehension of the other suspects are continuing in a multi-faceted and meticulous manner.

Following the operation, the CHP Ankara Provincial Organization issued a call in front of the municipal building in a post on its social media account.

The following statements were included in the post:

"Dear comrades, at this hour of the morning, an unlawful operation is being conducted against the Municipality of our Çankaya, the district of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in Ankara, the capital of our Republic. We invite all our party members and the citizens of Ankara to stand in solidarity in front of our Çankaya Municipality."
