Özgür Özel responds to Erdoğan's AYM remarks! 'It is understood that this is an uprising led by Erdoğan'
Speaking on the crisis between the Court of Cassation and the Constitutional Court (AYM), CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated, "After hearing the President's statements, it is understood that we are facing an attempt to dismantle the constitutional regime under Erdoğan's leadership and an uprising." CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın said, "This is more than a judicial coup; it is an open and deep state crisis. The conflict between the two institutions has clearly exposed that the separation of powers between the legislative, executive, and judiciary has long been abolished."
The repercussions continue following the Court of Cassation 3rd Criminal Chamber's ruling not to implement the Constitutional Court's (AYM) 'rights violation' decision regarding TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay, and its decision to file a criminal complaint against the members of the AYM.
The CHP made statements in front of the AYM today to protest the Court of Cassation's decision.
Chairman Özgür Özel made the following statements in his address:
"Turkey is a country with a very strong constitutional tradition, but the AKP is trying to de-constitutionalize the country. Until Erdoğan's statements, this was a judicial crisis, but it is understood that we are facing an attempt to dismantle the constitutional order by Erdoğan's hand, and effectively an uprising led by Erdoğan against the will of the people.
The AKP-MHP government does not have enough members of parliament to amend the constitution. They are ignoring certain articles of the constitution, and the President, who derives his authority from the constitution, is supporting this. Instead of protecting the provisions of the constitution, he is trying, together with the Court of Cassation, to ignore a provision of the constitution. You do not have the power to change the provisions of the constitution. The people did not give you this authority. That is why you are a coup plotter."
"THIS IS A DEEP STATE CRISIS"
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın spoke as follows:
"This is more than a judicial coup; it is an open and deep state crisis. The conflict between the two institutions has clearly exposed that the separation of powers between the legislative, executive, and judiciary has long been abolished."
