Detention warrants were issued for 13 people on suspicion of murder in the investigation into university student Gülistan Doku, who has not been heard from since January 5, 2020. Within the scope of the investigation, simultaneous operations were carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, İzmir, Antalya, Elazığ, and Dersim to apprehend the 13 individuals. As a result of the operations, 12 people were taken into custody.

Following the detention procedures, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a written statement on his social media account.

Stating that the investigation is being handled in all its aspects, Gürlek said, 'It is being investigated with determination, wherever it may lead.'

The full text of Gürlek's statement is as follows:

"Within the scope of the investigation conducted regarding the disappearance of Gülistan Doku, an important step has been taken by our Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; as a result of the multi-faceted work carried out, detention procedures have been executed.

This investigation, which has left a deep mark on the public conscience, is being re-examined in all its aspects; without ignoring any suspicion or allegation, it is being investigated with determination, wherever it may lead.

I share the pain of the Doku family, who have followed this difficult and comprehensive process with great patience; I thank our Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which works with devotion for the manifestation of justice, and our law enforcement forces, who work with sensitivity.

In line with our President's vision that 'The Century of Turkey will be the Century of Justice,' we will continue to mobilize all the resources of the law until there are no unsolved cases left."
