Breaking News: Statement from Ali Yerlikaya following the attack on Özgür Özel!

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel was physically attacked as he was leaving a ceremony held at the AKM for Sırrı Süreyya Önder.

It was learned that the attacker, who struck CHP leader Özel in the face from close range, shouted, "I am a descendant of the Ottomans."

The attacker was taken into custody by police teams.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made a statement following the attack on Özel.

Conveying his best wishes for a speedy recovery to Özel, Yerlikaya announced that the attacker was an individual identified as S.T. and that he had been taken into custody.

Yerlikaya's statement is as follows:

"I strongly condemn the physical attack carried out against CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and extend my best wishes for his recovery.

It has been determined that the person who attacked Mr. Özel is an individual named S.T., and the individual has been apprehended and taken into custody."
