Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated at his party's group meeting, "The MHP stands behind every word it says. We expect face-to-face contact between İmralı and the DEM Group to take place without delay, and we repeat our call with determination."

Following Bahçeli's call for a meeting between İmralı and the DEM Party, it was claimed that Ahmet Türk, the DEM Party Mayor of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee, would visit MHP leader Bahçeli.

While DEM Party sources denied the claim in question, a statement came from Bahçeli.

"He is a person who possesses the qualities of a tribal leader (ağa). A request for a meeting has not been conveyed to us, but if they wish to meet, we can always meet.

Tribal leadership has certain important qualities. The doors of tribal leaders are open, and their food is plentiful.

That is why the reason he slaughters 42 sheep when someone visits is because his table is abundant."
