Breaking News... Step back in Bilgi University decision: Canceled with Erdoğan's signature
The decision to revoke the operating license of İstanbul Bilgi University has been withdrawn. With a new decision published in the Official Gazette under the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the previous decision dated May 21 has been repealed.
With a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the previously taken decision to revoke the operating license of İstanbul Bilgi University has been canceled.
In the decree numbered 11387, which appeared in the Official Gazette dated May 25, 2026, and bears the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it was announced that the Presidential Decree dated May 21, 2026, and numbered 11384, regarding the revocation of the operating license of İstanbul Bilgi University, whose founding foundation has had a trustee appointed, has been repealed.
It was stated that the decision was taken upon the written request of the Council of Higher Education, in accordance with the additional article 11 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.
