Breaking News: Third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission concludes

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission met today (December 19) to determine the 2025 minimum wage hike, which directly concerns 7 million employees and indirectly affects the entire society.

The critical meeting, which millions of employees have been closely following, began under the chairmanship of Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan.

While no figures were mentioned in the commission's first two meetings on December 10 and December 16, the worker and employer sides are expected to put their requested raise rates on the table at today's third meeting and then finalize the rate through negotiations.

Following the meeting, TÜRK-İŞ will make a statement regarding the results of the discussions.

THIRD MEETING HAS ENDED, STATEMENT EXPECTED

The third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission has concluded.

It was expected that the worker and employer sides would come to the meeting with their raise proposals.

According to initial information obtained by NTV, no figures have been put on the table by the worker or employer sides yet.

The fourth meeting on the minimum wage is expected to be held next week.

RAISE STATEMENT FROM TÜRK-İŞ BEFORE THE CRITICAL MEETING

Prior to the third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, the Presidential Board of the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (TÜRK-İŞ), which represents the worker side, had convened.

Making a statement before the Minimum Wage Determination Commission meeting, TÜRK-İŞ Vice President Ramazan Ağar stated, "Hopefully, it will be for the best. We will determine our stance based on the attitude of the other side. We have held our meeting; everything for the minimum wage has been ready from the beginning, and we want to conclude the process as soon as possible. We will see the outcome today."

MINIMUM WAGE HIKE AFFECTS MANY ITEMS

The raise to be applied to the minimum wage will affect not only salaries but also many other payments.

Increases will occur in various payments such as severance pay, unemployment benefits, General Health Insurance (GSS) premiums, BAĞ-KUR, and voluntary insurance premiums. Additionally, debt restructuring for items such as maternity, military service, legal internships, and doctoral studies will also change.
