Breaking News... Title deed crisis grows: Civil servant who queried Akın Gürlek's title deeds detained
Three land registry officials have been suspended as part of an investigation launched following allegations that Justice Minister Akın Gürlek's land registry records were queried without authorization. A civil servant working in Kaş has been detained, and details of the investigation have emerged.
CHP leader Özgür Özel had recently claimed that Justice Minister Akın Gürlek owned 12 separate real estate properties with a total value of 325.5 million Turkish Liras.
This statement caused a widespread stir in the political agenda and quickly became one of the most debated topics.
RESPONSE FROM MINISTER GÜRLEK
Following the allegations, Minister Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the properties registered in his name. In his assessment to the public, Gürlek stated that he only held 4 title deeds and shared the relevant title deed records.
Following this statement, it was revealed that an investigation had been launched into who had queried the title deed records.
3 OFFICIALS SUSPENDED, ONE IN CUSTODY
Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, it was determined that Gürlek's title deed information had been queried at different land registry offices. Upon this, 3 land registry officials were suspended by the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre.
According to the report by Yeni Şafak, which is known for its proximity to the government, proceedings were initiated against a civil servant working at the Kaş Land Registry Office. The civil servant in question was detained upon the instructions of the Kaş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
ADMITTED TO QUERYING TITLE DEED INFORMATION
According to the information in the report, the detained land registry official admitted in his statement that he had queried the title deed records belonging to Akın Gürlek.
The official also declared that he later shared the information he accessed through the system via messages.
STATEMENTS ACCESSED
Journalist Hasan Basri Akdemir shared the initial statement of the civil servant, Diyar Akdağ, on his personal social media account.
Diyar Akdağ said, "A person whose name I knew as Ayşegül, but whose surname I did not know clearly, deceived me during a conversation and asked me to query the title deed records belonging to Justice Minister Akın GÜRLEK."
Stating, "I did not consciously participate in a conspiracy or slander against our Minister of Justice," the official Akdağ said he wanted to benefit from effective remorse provisions.
Diyar Akdağ's statement is as follows:
"I did not consciously participate in a conspiracy or slander against our Minister of Justice. A person I met and befriended on social media platforms Instagram and Tinder, whose name I knew as Ayşegül but whose surname I did not know clearly, deceived me during a conversation and asked me to query the title deed records belonging to Justice Minister Akın GÜRLEK. Thinking that our minister was being slandered, I performed the title deed query. During these queries, due to the psychiatric medication I use for my psychiatric problems, I inadvertently shared the result of the title deed query with the person named Ayşegül during our conversation in a way that was not detailed. Yes, I want to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse."
WHO IS THIS AYŞEGÜL?
Akdemir's assessment also drew attention: "I received information from judicial sources regarding the person named Ayşegül. They told me it was Ayşegül K. She is a person with a criminal record for the crime of unlawfully obtaining personal data. Why she requested the information she received from Diyar and who she is in contact with is also a subject of investigation."
