Breaking News: Ümit Özdağ - Özgür Özel meeting concludes! First statement after the critical summit

Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ, who regained his freedom after 148 days, has begun his visits following his release. After visiting IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu today, Özdağ went to the CHP Headquarters to meet with Özgür Özel.

Following the meeting, the two leaders held a joint press conference.

Özel said the following regarding Özdağ's visit:

"I once again convey my best wishes to all Zafer Party members. All political prisoners in Turkey need to be released as soon as possible, and of course, there are trials. No one is exempt from being tried. However, Mr. Erdoğan was tried for years but was never detained once. He did not spend a single day in custody.

Even when his sentence was upheld, he was invited to prison by phone. Now, the fact that he is treating the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who is doing his job, or Mr. Ümit Özdağ, who is a party chairman like himself, with this treatment that was not applied to him, is extremely shameful. This nation does not accept the victim of yesterday becoming the oppressor of today. We do not accept it either. Once again, I would like to thank Mr. Özdağ very much for visiting our party while making his first political visits on the first day of his freedom."

THANKS TO CHP FROM ÖZDAĞ

Ümit Özdağ also thanked the CHP for the support they provided during his time in Silivri Prison, stating the following:

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Republican People's Party for the legal and democratic support you provided during the period I was held hostage unlawfully for 5 months. From the very first day, I was very happy to see Republican People's Party deputies and Deputy Chairmen visiting and supporting me in Silivri. Of course, there were times when a sad atmosphere was created. Because I had only seen this many deputies in the General Assembly in parliament.

And in Silivri. This is not a normal picture of Turkey. When you sit side by side in the lawyer's booth, politicians, chairmen, academics from one end to the other. So who is staying in prison number 9? Baby killers, drug dealers, members of terrorist organizations, members of criminal organizations, and one is subjected to the same treatment as them.

This should not be the appearance of 21st-century Turkey, and these enemy criminal law practices should be abandoned, and Article 10 of the Constitution should truly be put back into effect, which determines that everyone is equal regardless of their political views. Not only the opposition needs such a Turkey, which is what Article 10 of the Constitution is.

I would like to express that the government also needs it, and I would like to express my thanks again to the Honorable Chairman and his friends, and the valuable CHP parliamentary group for the support they have given."

THE IYI PARTY - CHP TENSION IN THE TBMM

After their statements, the two leaders answered questions from members of the press. CHP leader Özgür Özel was reminded of the tension that occurred in the TBMM between IYI Party's Yasin Öztürk and TBMM Deputy Speaker Tekin Bingöl from the CHP, as well as the remarks made by IYI Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu.

Özel said:

"I followed Mr. Müsavat's statements. I am one of the two people who have served as group deputy chairman for the longest time in the history of the parliament. I had the opportunity to carefully watch what happened last night afterwards. There was an unfortunate parliamentary and communication accident that sometimes happens in the parliament last night.

It is clearly evident that Tekin Bingöl's stance on the Armenian genocide is no different from our party's or mine. In a process where it was managed for the first time and duties were performed for the first time, at a point where the closed microphone was perceived as Tekin Bingöl interrupting, in a place where attention was distracted by a phone call, and with an action that should never have been taken and a stance that should not have been taken towards the Presidential Council of the parliament, a whole set of undesirable events occurred. This issue should be evaluated as such.

There is a back room in the parliament for such situations. People go there, and those whose sincerity and good intentions are not in doubt compensate for such accidents. This opportunity could not be utilized; there was a punishment, and there is a total consensus that the act required it. However, we know that the opposition contradicting each other, clashing with each other, and responding to each other with harsh language over such issues will not please any of us, but one person. And that person is the one who is oppressing all of us today. Therefore, yesterday should be left in yesterday evening. As the Republican People's Party, we will continue to maintain our good relations with the IYI Party in the coming period, due to the respect we have for their voters and the respect we have for them. The opposition has no right to fall out with each other in such a process. Let no one say 'we are one' together with whoever they are allied with, outside of the Republican People's Party's alliance. We are the Turkey Alliance. We talked about this a lot before the local elections. Someone who keeps themselves outside of the party that founded the Republic of Turkey, which is the only one against us, and the 1st party of the last elections and all polls, would be excluding the nation. Mr. Müsavat would never want this. I personally vouch for Mr. Müsavat's good intentions on this matter."

"I INVITE ERDOĞAN TO LEAVE THE AIR-CONDITIONED HALLS"

Özel had made a reference to the government over diesel fuel calculations at his party's group meeting last Tuesday. AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had responded to Özel's diesel calculation with the words, "If a minimum wage earner has a car, they can fill their tank 10 times a month."

Özel spoke as follows regarding Erdoğan's words:

"I wish for Mr. Erdoğan to leave the air-conditioned halls and ask about the state of the farmer in the field, the state of the worker at the stops where they wait for the shuttle or in their factories, the state of the tradesman in their shops where they wait alone until noon or afternoon, unfortunately waiting to make their first sale, and the state of the retiree in the markets where they cannot shop and leave it until late hours.

Let's see what the retiree's situation is? What else are we going to say? I mean, the retiree who voted for the AK Party was buying 8 quarter gold coins with their salary before Tayyip Erdoğan came. Now it has fallen to two quarter gold coins. The minimum wage earner who voted for the AK Party was also receiving a salary of 7 quarter gold coins, and it has fallen to 3 quarter gold coins.

He is now upset about our 'jerrycan' calculation and is making other diesel calculations, and I think that a person who has been governing a country for 23 years should feel shame, not pride, from the calculation that 445 liters of diesel can be bought with the minimum wage I provided.

Because the German Chancellor says that 1370 liters of diesel can be bought with the minimum wage I provided. There is a difference of exactly 3.5 times the diesel price in Turkey compared to Germany. In Germany, the minimum wage is the wage received by 9% of total wage earners, which is received in the first year and is quickly moved away from.

It is 3.5 to 4 times that of Turkey. If Mr. Erdoğan is boasting about the purchasing power of the minimum wage against diesel, I must state that this is not a healthy assessment for Turkey or for himself."
