TEL AVIV EMBASSY STEPS IN

Following their arrival on land, officials from Turkey's Embassy in Tel Aviv met directly with the Turkish citizens early this morning. During the meeting, both their general condition and their needs were assessed.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs sources announced that all necessary consular support is being provided to the Turkish citizens on the ship and that official contacts are ongoing.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As part of the latest mission organized by the non-governmental organization "Freedom Flotilla Coalition" to break the blockade on Gaza and deliver aid to the region, the 18-meter ship set sail for Gaza from the Port of San Giovanni Li Cuti in Catania, Italy, on June 1.

Activists on the Madleen ship had announced that if the Israeli military intervened, they would maintain a peaceful stance and would not offer resistance.
