Budget surpasses 6 ministries: Diyanet splurges on its own exhibition!

The Presidency of Religious Affairs, which consumed 34.6 billion TL of its 36.4 billion TL budget in the first 9 months of this year, spent 1.4 million liras to open the “Diyanet with Documents” exhibition.

According to a report in Sözcü, the Presidency of Religious Affairs signed a contract worth 1 million 420 thousand 910 TL with the company Beyaz Dizayn İnşaat Dekorasyon on October 25, 2023, following a tender for the exhibition.

The exhibition features 70 works selected by the Presidential State Archives and the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Records belonging to Rıfat Börekçi, the first President of Religious Affairs of the Republic, and the book 'Moral Lessons' (Ahlak Dersleri) written by Aksekili Ahmed Hamdi, which was Diyanet's first publication, were also displayed.

The 2023 budget of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, which was 35 billion 910 million TL, was increased to 36 billion 468 million TL with the supplementary budget passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in July. In the 2024 budget, an increase of more than one hundred percent was made, bringing it to 91 billion 824 million 805 thousand TL. The 2024 budget of the Diyanet surpasses the budgets of the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Natural Resources, Culture and Tourism, Industry and Technology, and Trade.
