Busy agenda in Parliament: New omnibus bill for the economy on the way from the AKP
A comprehensive legislative proposal containing various changes in the economic field is expected to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey this week. Additionally, President Erdoğan will meet with members of parliament and ministers at an iftar program.
A busy schedule will continue in the Parliament General Assembly and committees in the new week. In the General Assembly, which holds great importance in the law-making process, it is planned to continue the deliberations on the draft law proposing amendments to the National Parks Law and certain related laws, some articles of which were accepted in recent days.
IFTAR DINNER IN PARLIAMENT: ERDOĞAN WILL ALSO ATTEND
As a notable development on Tuesday, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to attend an iftar program in Parliament together with cabinet members and deputies. Apart from this, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş is also expected to host separate iftar invitations for representatives of non-governmental organizations and university rectors in Ankara.
NEW OMNIBUS BILL REGARDING THE ECONOMY COMING TO PARLIAMENT
The AKP is preparing to submit an omnibus bill containing various regulations for the economy to the Speaker of the Parliament this week. The proposal will include items such as new VAT exemptions to be applied to certain sectors and some tax changes, as well as an increase in the holiday bonus for retired citizens.
According to the planned regulation, it is aimed to increase the retiree holiday bonus from the current 4 thousand liras to 5 thousand liras. In addition, new facilities will be introduced in the sales conditions of disaster houses built in the 11 provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes. Accordingly, for disaster-affected citizens, in case of cash payment, houses normally sold for 1 million 890 thousand liras can be purchased for 484 thousand liras, which is one-fourth of the price. For village-type houses, the price is planned to be set at 448 thousand liras.
COMMITTEE AGENDAS
Among the other topics on the parliamentary agenda, the sessions to be held this week by the Research Commission on Children Dragged into Crime stand out. Representatives from the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) will attend the commission on Tuesday to provide information. On Wednesday, it was reported that officials from the General Directorate of Security's Cyber Crimes Combat Department will make a presentation.
On the other hand, a new election for the presidency will be held in the sub-commission of the joint commission affiliated with the Petition Commission and the Human Rights Investigation Commission, and the calendar for the upcoming period will be shaped.
Throughout the week, political parties will hold their group meetings in the TBMM on Tuesday and Wednesday, continuing to discuss both the internal agenda and hot topics of public interest.
