Cabinet meets at the Palace: Eid holiday also on the agenda
The Presidential Cabinet will meet today at the Palace under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In addition to the tension in the Middle East, the 'Turkey without terrorism' process, and economic issues, the meeting will also address whether the Eid al-Adha holiday will be extended to 9 days.
The Cabinet is meeting in the new week under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Palace.
DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE SECOND OPENING PROCESS
At the meeting, which is expected to start at 15:30, the latest developments regarding the war in the Middle East will be discussed. It is anticipated that contacts between the US and Iran, as well as the ceasefire plan presented by Iran to the US, will be evaluated by the Cabinet.
The latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz is also expected to be on the Cabinet's agenda. The effects of rising energy costs on the economy and additional measures that can be taken will be discussed. Inflation targets will also be among the topics of the meeting.
There have been assessments in the public eye for some time that a new phase could be entered in the second opening process, which is called 'Turkey without terrorism'.
At the Cabinet meeting, it is expected that the legal steps that could be taken following the laying down of arms by the terrorist organization PKK and the verification of the process by the MIT (National Intelligence Organization) will be discussed.
SCHOOL ATTACKS IN KAHRAMANMARAŞ AND ŞANLIURFA
The school attacks that occurred in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş are also on the cabinet's agenda. A review of the security measures implemented in schools is planned.
WILL THE EID HOLIDAY BE 9 DAYS?
It is stated that the issue of whether the Eid al-Adha holiday will be extended to 9 days may also be brought up at the meeting.
The fact that the eve of the holiday falls on Tuesday, May 26, and the first day of the holiday is Wednesday, increases the possibility of a 9-day holiday.
If Monday and Tuesday are included in the scope of administrative leave, employees in public institutions and organizations will be able to take a total of 9 days off, including the weekends.
CABINET MEETING HAD BEEN POINTED TO FOR THE EID HOLIDAY
Responding to journalists' questions in Aydın as part of the Turkey Culture Road Festival, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated, "A 9-day holiday would be positive for tourism, but this decision will be evaluated in the cabinet."
