Cabinet meets today: Busy agenda ahead of the holiday
The Presidential Cabinet will meet at the Palace today after a two-week break to address a wide range of topics, from regional security to economic developments. Measures for the Eid al-Adha holiday are also expected to be a key focus.
The Cabinet meeting, to be chaired by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is scheduled to begin today at 16:00. The critical meeting will focus on foreign relations, recent regional crises, and domestic security measures.
One of the prominent topics of the meeting will be the indirect contacts continuing between the US and Iran. The current status of diplomatic efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire between the parties and potential scenarios will be discussed.
Energy security is also among the issues to be addressed by Cabinet members. The effects of the bottleneck in the Strait of Hormuz on the Turkish economy will be evaluated, and energy diversification policies and current practices will be reviewed.
The implications of President Erdoğan's recent visit to Kazakhstan will also be discussed during the meeting. The steps Turkey has taken with the Turkic world and the progress made in bilateral relations will be examined by the ministers.
In domestic politics, current reports regarding the work carried out within the scope of the second opening process, dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey," will be discussed. Legislative steps planned to be addressed in Parliament in the coming period and new measures to be taken in line with the recommendations of security units will be evaluated in detail.
Due to the approaching Eid al-Adha, the Ministry of Trade's efforts to increase market inspections will be on the Cabinet's agenda. At the same time, security measures to be taken by the Ministries of Interior and Transport to ensure that citizens can travel in peace and safety during the holiday period will be discussed.
