Call from Uğur Dündar to Ekrem İmamoğlu and Murat Kurum! 'I am waiting for news, the decision is theirs...'

In Istanbul, one of the cities where the outcome of the local elections is most anticipated, the race is expected to be between the People's Alliance candidate Murat Kurum and the CHP candidate, incumbent IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

While there is curiosity about whether the two candidates will appear on the same broadcast before the elections, journalist Uğur Dündar has issued a call to both figures.

Posting on his X (Twitter) account, Dündar wrote that he would soon be hosting a program with İmamoğlu and that he had also extended the same program invitation to Kurum.

Dündar's post is as follows;

“Announcement to the public: I will soon be conducting an interview with IMM Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu on Sözcü TV. I made the same proposal to the People's Alliance candidate Mr. Murat Kurum weeks ago. I also stated that I am willing to moderate a debate program on Sözcü TV featuring both of them. I am waiting for news, the decision is theirs...”

Announcement to the public,:

İMAMOĞLU HAD SAID 'I WOULD WELCOME IT', KURUM HAD SIDESTEPPED THE ISSUE

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who visited Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç on March 1, responded to the question "Do you have an invitation for Murat Kurum?" as follows;

"When it comes to an invitation or a formal request for Mr. Kurum, he can sometimes give very complicated answers, but let me be clear. Of course, we have always been happy to be together, to talk, to share Istanbul, and to exchange comments about Istanbul. We have valued this. Of course, in a civilized country, in a civilized city, in Istanbul, the cradle of civilization, if there is a process and a race for Istanbul, I would certainly say 'yes' to such an environment. I would welcome it positively without hesitation. Of course, the setting and conditions would be discussed by technical personnel accordingly. For me, there is nothing to debate."

Murat Kurum, on the other hand, responded to the question of whether he would appear on a television program with İmamoğlu by saying, “The call from those who do not see Istanbul to talk about Istanbul with us today is not a sincere call. If we are going to talk about Istanbul's metro, if we are going to talk about Istanbul's urban transformation, if we are going to talk about the future and tomorrow of Istanbul, we are open to every conversation and every invitation. But first, they must demonstrate this sincerity.”
