In Çankaya, one of the most populous districts of Ankara, an operation was conducted on July 11 against the municipality, which is under the administration of the Republican People's Party (CHP). As part of the operation, detention warrants were issued for 36 people, including Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner. The investigation, which also involves the names of senior municipal officials, includes accusations of "establishing a criminal organization," "being a member of an organization," "giving and receiving bribes," and "rigging tenders."

Güner, who was returning to Ankara from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was detained at Esenboğa Airport. Having completed his procedures at the police station today within the scope of the investigation, Güner was referred to judicial authorities in the morning hours.

In a social media statement regarding the process, Güner used the following expressions: "Whatever the decision made today, I will not give up on my faith and my struggle."
