Car drives into crowd during CHP march, one woman injured
A vehicle drove into a crowd marching from the CHP Headquarters to the Parliament, striking a woman; the car fled the scene rapidly after the collision.
An unfortunate incident occurred during the march initiated by Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, who was walking with party members from the CHP Headquarters in Ankara to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. During the support march, which began following the police's harsh intervention against the party building, a car suddenly drove into the crowd.
In the incident, which took place among citizens participating in the march in large numbers, the car struck a woman, causing her to fall to the ground. The vehicle dragged the woman for a short distance after hitting her; following reactions from those nearby, the driver fled the area at high speed.
While medical teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident, no official statement has yet been made regarding the condition of the injured woman. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the fleeing driver. The accident caused great sadness and reaction among those participating in the march.
