Caught with drugs in his shoe: 'It was cheap, I bought in bulk' defense

Operations are being carried out across the country as part of the fight against drugs.

The Adana Police Department's Narcotics Crimes Investigation Branch teams received information that Selim S. was bringing a large quantity of drugs into Adana on a passenger bus.

INSPECTIONS CONDUCTED ON THE BUS

Upon this, narcotics police stopped the passenger bus at the İncirlik Park area.

The teams had Selim S., who was a passenger on the bus, get off and began searching his person and then his belongings.

DRUGS FOUND INSIDE HIS SHOE

The teams seized 266.59 grams of methamphetamine inside a pair of shoes found among the suspect's belongings.

INTERESTING DEFENSE

It was learned that Selim S., who was taken into custody, said in his statement at the police station, "I bought it in bulk because it was cheap. The person gave me the pair of shoes containing the substance. I knew there was a substance inside; I am a user, I had no intention of selling."

The suspect, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station, was arrested by the court he was brought before.
