Ceremony held for Tomris Giritlioğlu

Renowned director, screenwriter, and producer Tomris Giritlioğlu has passed away at the age of 67. A ceremony was held for Giritlioğlu at the Istanbul State Theater Torun Center. The ceremony was attended by actress Nur Sürer, actor Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, singer and actress Hülya Avşar, actress Belçim Bilgin, actress Evrim Akın, and many of her loved ones. Emotional moments were also experienced during the ceremony.

“I learned so much from her”

Tomris Giritlioğlu’s son, Ilgaz Giritlioğlu, stated, “My dear mother, my greatest love. Being by her side was both very difficult and very easy. A tough life, sleepless editing rooms, a life full of beautiful actors and cameras. I learned so much from her. Preparing a project. Many people here already know her difference in this regard. She showed us that when making a project, it is not just about making and selling that project, but that the project actually has a soul and that its meeting with the audience is of great importance.”

“I have never met such a strong, charismatic person in my life”

Speaking at the ceremony, actor Cansel Elçin said, “I had never met such a strong, charismatic person who told stories so impressively, who could persuade you, and who spoke so beautifully. I thank her very much for trusting and valuing me. She gave me a great gift by reuniting me with my country.”

Giritlioğlu, whose funeral prayer will be held at Teşvikiye Mosque following the afternoon prayer, will be laid to rest at the Antakya Asri Cemetery on Wednesday, September 25.
