Çetin Doğan sent back to prison after being discharged from hospital
Retired General Çetin Doğan was hospitalized on March 1 due to health issues. It has emerged that the 84-year-old Doğan, who was reported to have been discharged from the hospital, has been sent back to prison.
84-year-old retired General Çetin Doğan, who was convicted in the February 28 case and hospitalized on March 1, was discharged from the hospital today following the completion of his treatment.
Doğan's situation in prison remains uncertain.
He was issued a report for "chronic illness and old age," but this report has been awaiting approval for a year by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Despite his discharge, in a message sent while on his way to prison, Doğan stated that he would continue the struggle against injustice, lawlessness, and corruption in Turkey, and that they hold hope for a bright future. In his message, he also expressed his loyalty and love for the secular, democratic, social state of law, the Republic, founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
"I SAY 'SAĞ OLUN' (THANK YOU), WHICH IS THE MOST CONCISE MILITARY-STYLE THANK YOU"
In the message Doğan sent while traveling from the hospital to the prison, he included the following statements:
'My brave fellow citizens from every corner and every segment of my beautiful country who have given me support and strength; I say to you 'Sağ olun!' (Thank you!), which is the most concise military-style thank you.
Now is the time to wage war against all the injustice, lawlessness, scarcity, poverty, and corruption experienced in our country, and to give support and strength to those who nurture the hopes we carry for bright tomorrows in our country.
I wish heartfelt love, respect, and well-being to those who are devoted to our Republic, the secular, democratic, social state of law founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.'
