Cevdet Yılmaz responds to 'tax amnesty for the rich' claims

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that baseless statements and speculative comments made about the government's work in the media and on social media, without providing names or sources, should not be given any credence.

Cevdet Yılmaz further stated that a 'tax amnesty for the rich' was never even on the agenda at any stage.

In a statement made on his X account, Cevdet Yılmaz noted the following:

"Baseless statements and speculative comments made about our government's work in the media and on social media, without providing names or sources, should not be given any credence.

Our government transparently shares the policies it will follow and the decisions it makes after comprehensive impact assessments through official policy documents or statements made by officials.

The latest tax package passed by our Parliament also went through these stages to become a proposal and was enacted with the appreciation of our Parliament.

In these processes, a 'tax amnesty for the rich' was never even on the agenda at any stage. On the contrary, our President's preferences regarding the tax package have been clearly in favor of the broad segments of society, with an approach that envisions taking more from those who earn more.

Our dear nation knows our President very well, as well as those who try to spread these lies."
