Check this list before going into the sea! Safe beaches announced

Stating that as a result of the analyses, water quality is classified as "good," "fair," and "poor" according to European Union criteria, Istanbul Provincial Health Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner said that no results at a "poor" level were detected in any swimming area in Istanbul.

"Our priority is for the beaches that our citizens prefer to cool off on hot summer days to be healthy and safe. We evaluate water quality not only with numerical values but also based on whether it poses a health risk," said Güner, giving the message to the people of Istanbul that they can swim with peace of mind at the designated beaches.

CHECK BEFORE GOING INTO THE SEA

Pointing out that the designated areas are determined not only by water quality but also by various criteria such as environmental factors, safety measures, lifeguard services, and toilet facilities, Güner said that swimming in spots outside these areas could carry serious health and safety risks.

Stating that swimming outside these swimming areas, where factors such as wind direction, sea currents, and wastewater discharge are kept under control, can be dangerous, Güner called on citizens to prefer only the officially designated areas.

The current status and water quality data of swimming areas in Istanbul have been shared with the public via the Ministry of Health's website, yuzme.saglik.gov.tr. Citizens can easily learn about the swimming areas closest to where they live and their water quality through the site.
