Child loses life in armed attack at henna night

A henna night held in the garden of a primary school in Emir Neighborhood yesterday evening became the scene of armed terror. E.D. (43), who was attending the celebrations, opened fire randomly on the crowd with a pump-action shotgun he had brought with him for reasons yet unknown.

Ayaz Çimen (14), Hüseyin Ö. (23), Hasan B. (30), the attacker's wife Ümmühan D. (45), and Osman Ö. (72) were injured by the pellets from the gunfire. Upon notification by those who witnessed the incident, health and gendarmerie teams were quickly dispatched to the area.

Ayaz Çimen, who was seriously injured, could not be saved despite all medical interventions at Ödemiş State Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance. While the other injured individuals were taken under treatment at the same hospital, it was learned that Ümmühan D., whose life is in danger, was transferred to İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital for further treatment.

The suspect E.D., who fled the scene after the attack, was caught by the gendarmerie in a rural area and taken into custody. It was reported that the investigation into the suspect, who was taken to the police station for questioning, is ongoing.
