Chilling case in Adana: They repeatedly abused her, then 'sold' her

C.İ., a 17-year-old girl with a 25 percent intellectual disability living in Adana's Ceyhan district, was 14 years old when, on 11 November 2022, she told neighborhood guards O.D. and Mehmet Can D. (36) — who was married and a father of one — that she was having problems with her family while they were on patrol in the neighborhood.

After being calmed down by the guards, the young girl went home. Some time later, C.İ. and guard Mehmet Can D. began communicating.

Later that same year, Mehmet Can D. picked C.İ. up from school in his car and took her to an empty plot of land. There he sexually abused the young girl, and afterward threatened her into silence.

Some time later, Mehmet Can D. summoned the young girl again and, according to the allegations, this time forced her to engage in sexual intercourse with guards Fatih Ş. (36) and Mehmet Ali T. (34) in exchange for money. Threatened with death and given drugs, the young girl was subjected to sexual abuse by all three guards on multiple occasions.

PAID 1,000 TL AFTER EACH ENCOUNTER

In addition, Mehmet Can D. gave C.İ. 500–1,000 TL after several encounters and sent her home.

Unable to endure the pressure from guard Mehmet Can D., C.İ. told her mother Hatice İ. about what she had suffered in 2023. The mother and daughter then filed a complaint, first with the Ceyhan District Police Directorate and then with the prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor's office, which deepened its investigation into the case, also uncovered messages within a "Telegram" group, and a 14-page indictment was prepared.

TRIAL TO BEGIN ON 24 OCTOBER

The guards are set to stand trial at the Ceyhan 1st Heavy Criminal Court on 24 October.

It was learned that guard Mehmet Can D., who had continued on duty, has been suspended, while an administrative investigation into the other two guards is ongoing.

It was also learned that C.İ. is currently staying at a children's care home in a province outside Adana.
