China calls for a ceasefire in Gaza

Chen Xu, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva, spoke on behalf of his country during the session of the 55th UN Human Rights Council addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In his speech, Permanent Representative Chen stated that an unprecedented humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza, saying, "An immediate ceasefire is the demand of the international community and the fundamental requirement for achieving peace."

Calling on Israel to implement the provisional measures and instructions of the International Court of Justice aimed at preventing genocide, Chen emphasized that humanitarian aid organizations must be allowed to carry out their operations in Gaza.

Pointing out that China supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate national rights, Chen emphasized that they strongly oppose the occupation of Palestinian territories and the forced displacement of the population.

Underlining that a two-state solution is the general consensus of the international community and the most realistic way for Palestine and Israel to live together in peace, Chen called on all countries to make efforts in this direction.
