CHP Chairman Özel's assessment of 'Manavgat Municipality': A lightbulb lit up on the baklava

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke to support Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was arrested last week, and to react to the arrests. Addressing the government, Özel said, "You can never turn us from our path. Our path is the path to power; we will win."

CHP Antalya Provincial Chairman Mahir Kamacı read the message of CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate, Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu:

“Dear people of Antalya… My brave brothers and sisters. Those who will never be able to win an election again. They are trying to shape politics and bring the nation to its knees through the judiciary. As our nation takes to the squares against this coup attempt on its own will, they become more aggressive in their panic. This unjust and unlawful treatment deemed appropriate for my dear fellow traveler, Mayor Muhittin Böcek, is the result of their desperation. Mayor Muhittin, who has been the mayor in this city for a quarter of a century and has brought many values to the city, has a book. Its name is ‘I am in love with this city’… The people of Antalya have not left this love unrequited, and they have elected our Mayor Muhittin as mayor twice in a row. They cannot tolerate this love and appreciation of the people. They have fallen from the nation's favor, and they think they can make us fall from the nation's favor with trumped-up cases. But they will not succeed. They will not be able to tear us out of this nation's heart. Of course, the ballot box will one day come before the people, and of course, the nation will hold these injustices to account. The dirty, corrupt order of a handful of people will be buried in history, and the era of justice and freedom will begin,” he said.

“Hey Erdoğan, do you see this square… Did you think you could intimidate this nation with wave after wave of operations? Did you think you could break the CHP's struggle by attacking here and there? We are here, we are together. Our energy is high, you cannot finish it. Our will is made of steel, you cannot bend it. Our people are brave, you cannot frighten them. You can never turn us from our path. Our path is the path to power, we will win, we will succeed…

Muhittin Böcek is being held inside with a conspiracy; we came to stand by him. I have a special relationship with Mayor Muhittin Böcek. He lay in the hospital with COVID. I spoke with his brother every day. One day they said there was no hope. I prayed. God gave Mayor Muhittin back to us. The wife of his brother, who was at the door in those days, we lost her husband to COVID; she is entrusted to us.

The Böcek family is such a family... They tell Muhittin Böcek, 'your son separated from his wife, his wife wanted an apartment, you didn't give the money for the given apartment to the contractor, this is bribery.' Muhittin's son is building his own apartment. He had just started at that time. He asked someone for it as a loan. The person who gave it also explained it this way in court: 'I gave it as a loan. I was going to take it back when he finished.' They look at MASAK records and call it bribery because an apartment was given and money was not given.
