CHP Chairman Özgür Özel lays a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Samsun

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel laid a wreath at the monument of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, in Samsun on the occasion of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Following the ceremony, Özgür Özel made statements.

Özel stated the following:

''GAZI MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK'S PARTY WILL COME TO POWER''

''These days, they are preparing a curriculum in the 100th year of the Republic that does not mention the founding cadres of the Republic or the War of Independence, and they are trying to set a direction and guide our youth in the 2nd century of the Republic without mentioning Atatürk, without mentioning İnönü, and without commemorating the founding cadres. However, I have bad news for them. The first elections of the 2nd century of the Republic have been held. Now, we are working tirelessly from day one for the first general elections of the 2nd century. Hey! Those who fear the name of Atatürk, those who do not commemorate İsmet Paşa, those who describe the War of Independence as if it happened on its own, those who fear the word 'free' among generations with free thought, free conscience, and free wisdom, enemies of liberty, we are calling out to you: the first elections of the second century of the Republic will come, and the party of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will come to power.''

''I CAN NEVER ACCEPT THIS''

65% of the population, 80% of the economy, and 87% of the collected taxes are generated from the areas we manage, the areas we serve. However, I would like to express my great sadness that in such a period, in such an atmosphere, while we are winning Kütahya, Afyon, and Manisa—that is, while we are winning the provinces of the national struggle, the great offensive, and the great victory—I can never accept that Samsun has not been won by us.

From here, I call out to everyone in Samsun, whether they are party members or not, but who have the love of Atatürk and the Republic in their hearts: We cannot carry this in Samsun. We must make the Gazi's party the winner in Samsun as soon as possible.

HE ADDRESSED THE YOUTH

“If you are sad, if you are losing hope, if you are bored, if you are thinking of leaving this country, this is not allowed. I may leave, but you cannot; the elderly may leave, but the youth cannot; even soldiers may leave, but the youth cannot. Because the Republic is entrusted to the youth.''
