CHP convention decision in the judiciary:

The recent convention debates within the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the accompanying legal processes continue to stir up the political corridors in Ankara. Most recently, the party leadership issued a very harsh reaction to the alleged tendencies of a local court or district election board to cancel or halt the convention process. CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Emir, who plays a significant role in the party's legal and political strategy, argued that these events are entirely a political move disguised with a legal veneer. Stating that such interventions into the internal operations of the main opposition party would deal a heavy blow to democracy, Emir turned eyes toward the Supreme Election Council (YSK) as the higher authority.

CONSTITUTIONAL CALL TO THE SUPREME ELECTION COUNCIL

In his assessment, Murat Emir emphasized that the politicization of the law completely damages the sense of justice in society. Stating that the convention processes are proceeding in accordance with party bylaws and laws, Emir expressed that obstruction decisions taken on artificial grounds are unacceptable. "The target here is not just the CHP, but Turkey's multi-party democratic tradition," said Emir, adding that the Supreme Election Council stands at a historic threshold in this process. Emir clearly stated that YSK members must reject the political pressure upon them, exercise the independence authority granted to them by the constitution, and put a stop to this unlawful course of action at the highest level.
