CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir clarifies the ongoing debate. What are their conditions for a new constitution?

Speaking to tv100.com columnist Barış Yarkadaş, the new group deputy chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Murat Emir, stated the following regarding the CHP's condition for a new constitution: "For us to hold constitutional talks, the government must comply with the constitution; this is a condition.

This is already a provision of the constitution.

If concrete steps are taken and actions are consistent with this, everyone will do what is required of them."

"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL HAS DRAWN THE FRAMEWORK"

In response to Yarkadaş's question, "Has any draft been submitted to the constitutional commission so far?", Emir replied, "No subject has been discussed in the commission at the moment. Our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, drew the framework yesterday.

It is not possible to draft a constitution without implementing the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights.

Turkey needs a democratic and libertarian constitution.

For us to hold constitutional talks, the government must comply with the constitution; this is a condition. This is already a provision of the constitution. If concrete steps are taken and actions are consistent with this, everyone will do what is required of them."
