CHP had confirmed: Statement on Özlem Çerçioğlu from the AKP!

The claim that CHP Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu would resign from the CHP and join the AKP has become a major topic of discussion.

According to a report by Mahir Kılıç from Habertürk, it was alleged that Çerçioğlu would join the AKP on August 14 and that her party badge would be pinned by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Making a statement on the matter, AKP Aydın Provincial Board Member Cumali Uçar categorically denied the claim in question. However, he stated that CHP Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya would join the AKP along with 13 municipal council members.

Uçar used the following expressions in his statement:

"Dear citizens of Aydın; the rumors that have frequently appeared in the public eye over the last week, 'Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu is changing her party, is she joining the AK Party?' do not reflect the truth. We all know that Ms. Özlem Çerçioğlu cannot be with our People's Alliance stakeholders or our AK Party. To prevent misinformation for our AK Party organization and our valued citizens, we can say definitively that we have no such agenda. We understand that these types of gossip sessions are a planned perception operation by the CHP, as every politician who finds themselves in a tight spot attempts this and personally serves the news to their own social media agencies.

On the 24th anniversary of the founding of our AK Party, there will be participation from political parties on Thursday; under the leadership of our President and Chairman Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, there will be participation in our AK Party by members of parliament, mayors, and municipal council members from various political parties. Among these participants from our province of Aydın, Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya and 13 council members will join. However, Özlem Çerçioğlu is not among these participants. Do not forget, do not believe such rumors, fake news, whispers, or disparaging slanders until an official statement is made by our political party officials."

On the other hand, CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül confirmed in a statement to Sözcü TV that the mayors of Sultanhisar, Söke, and Yenipazar would join the AKP.
