Sharp response to Erdoğan from CHP's Özgür Çelik: 'You will see the "big radish" there too'

The normalization/softening period that began between the AKP and the CHP after the local elections was short-lived.

Following CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat has also been arrested.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan targeted CHP leader Özgür Özel and CHP-run municipalities in a post on his social media account.

Erdoğan included the following statements in his post:

“As the corruption, theft, and irregularity cases within the CHP that have come to light are investigated, and as the surface is scratched, shameful scandals erupt.

It is a literal abyss… Towers of money, inflated concert invoices, tender corruption…

Instead of turning and looking in the mirror, they are casting blame around. They say, 'We don't know, how do you know?'

I ask CHP leader Mr. Özel:

For God's sake, what do you know that you would know these things?

Aren't you the one who was so indifferent to events that you said 'Esad should be met with as soon as possible' while Esad was fleeing by plane?

If you don't know what the nation knows, if you aren't following what 85 million are following, whose fault is that?

Every time you are exposed, you make big statements, but then you fall into line like lambs.

Mr. Özel…

Instead of blaming the judiciary, us, and the courts, fight against this robbery order that wraps around the CHP like a poisonous ivy!

If you are looking for bandits, look at the bandits surrounding you!

Or leave these things alone; continue playing cards, occupying yourself with cards.”

A response to this post by Erdoğan came from CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik.

"Mr. Erdoğan, you came in 2002 saying you would 'fight the 3Ys' (corruption, poverty, and bans). After 22 years, the country has been dragged into a literal swamp of corruption and poverty through bans, oppression, and anti-democratic practices. Today, while Turkey's institutions are experiencing a collapse, social decay has also engulfed every part of society.

We know that your smearing of our municipalities, which provide social support to our citizens whom you have impoverished and dragged into misery, stems from your anxiety about losing power! We are not the same as you. Your path is rent-seeking, our path is the people. You have no future left to promise to our Turkey. The CHP's Chairman and every one of its members fight for a democratic Turkey in prosperity! You should look at the handful of minorities around you who have grown rich during your rule.
