CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu reacts to the arrest of a 17-year-old who insulted Atatürk
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a statement regarding the 17-year-old high school student who was arrested for insulting Atatürk. Kılıçdaroğlu said, "This arrest, made by the Palace to pull the wool over people's eyes, will serve no purpose other than stealing that child's future."
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu made a series of posts on his X account today following the arrest yesterday by a court of a 17-year-old who performed inappropriate acts with a page containing a picture of Atatürk and shared it on social media.
“This arrest, made by the Palace to pull the wool over people's eyes, will serve no purpose other than stealing that child's future,” said Kılıçdaroğlu, adding, “It will only and exclusively contribute to the Palace's policy of ‘creating enemies.’”
Kılıçdaroğlu’s posts are as follows:
"Insults directed at the Great Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, are the result of the climate created by the Palace Government. We cannot accept this ugliness. However, the skill is not in punishing a child who is educated, deceived, and brainwashed in this way. This arrest, made by the Palace to pull the wool over people's eyes, will serve no purpose other than stealing that child's future. It will only and exclusively contribute to the Palace's policy of “creating enemies.” For example, a Kuwaiti individual continues to direct insults at Atatürk. Moreover, it is alleged that this person holds a Republic of Turkey passport. First and foremost, this allegation must be clarified immediately by the relevant authorities. Whether the allegation is true or not, this is where the Palace Government's policy of selling citizenship for money will lead. The Republic of Turkey was not founded by favor, but by blood. Our country's citizenship is equally valuable. If you covet three or five dollars, you will bow before such immoral people. The Palace Government may be able to stomach this, but this situation does not befit the Republic of Turkey"
