CHP Leader Özel criticizes Feyzioğlu without naming him: 'In the hands of such mediocrities'

Regarding a question about the seating arrangement at the dinner held after the ceremony, Özgür Özel said, "At the dinner table, the two Presidents sat in the middle of the hall as required by protocol. The rest of the protocol had a separate table. The two Presidents' table was separate. There is nothing wrong with that."

Stating that they were welcomed and hosted in the best possible way in Cyprus, Özel continued as follows:

"If there was a flaw in Cyprus, the one who committed that flaw is the Turkish Ambassador in Cyprus. Wherever we go in the world, our ambassadors greet us. If they cannot come, there is definitely an official there. But we did not see the ambassador or anyone from the embassy at the airport. They did not ask how we were doing anywhere.

This is, of course, the result of not coming from the profession and not being able to digest the position one has attained. We will officially report our discomfort regarding this matter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While our ambassadors greet us on the other side of the world, this ambassador did not greet Namık Tan, who served as an ambassador in Washington and Israel, waving the Turkish flag all over the world.

"HE DID NOT GREET THE LEADER OF TURKEY'S MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY"

This ambassador did not greet 2 Foreign Ministers. This ambassador did not greet four CHP chairmen, one of whom is the current Chairman.

This ambassador did not greet the leader of Turkey's main opposition party.

The fact that this ambassador did not do this—he might not do it himself, he might find an excuse—but he cannot prevent the embassy from doing it. We will convey our criticisms to the Minister with an official letter, both diplomatically and in accordance with our state traditions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an institution with traditions. It is an institution that cannot be made mediocre in the hands of such mediocrities."
