CHP Leader Özel: What happened to the promises made but not kept?
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed citizens in Bayburt, which hosted a CHP rally for the first time in 14 years.
Özel pointed to the Kop Tunnel, where he said "there are promises made in Bayburt that were not kept," and the Bayburt-Gümüşhane Airport, while criticizing the work of the Bayburt Group İnşaat company, which has not completed the projects.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel arrived in Bayburt today as part of the 'Defending the National Will' rallies. In his speech, Özel stated that they would take concrete steps for the city's development and the strengthening of its transportation network.
"THE AIRPORT HAS BEEN WAITING FOR 6 YEARS"
Drawing attention to Bayburt's geographical location and transportation needs, Özel emphasized the importance of the Kop Tunnel, which has been under construction for years. Özel said, "There are promises made but not kept. What happened to the tunnel, the tunnel on Kop Mountain? They laid the foundation in 2012, they haven't finished it in 13 years. The airport has been waiting for 6 years. The dam, the Gümüşdamla dam in the Aydıntepe district, was not built, it remains unfinished," he said.
Touching on the importance of farming as well as industrialization, Özel stated, "Due to the snow that did not melt in Bayburt, all the seeds rotted; the damage needs to be compensated, support is needed, and loan debts need to be closed. Someone needs to hear these voices. This week, all of Bayburt's problems will be on the parliament's agenda. The Bayburt farmer will make their voice heard in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM)," he said.

Promising support to citizens and retirees struggling with economic difficulties, Özel said, "Bayburt is writing history today; in Bayburt, retirees and workers are fighting shoulder to shoulder to get an interim raise," and insisted on the necessity of an interim raise for the minimum wage.

During the rally held under heavy rain, the CHP leader said, "You endured all this rain and did not leave; may God be pleased with you. All young people will build their dreams not abroad, but in Turkey, in Bayburt. This society will finally find peace," he said.
Following the rally, Özel left Bayburt to head to Erzincan.
