CHP leader Özgür Özel speaks from Ödemiş: 'Then there is hope...'
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed citizens in the Ödemiş district of İzmir. In his speech, where he pointed to the economic crisis, Özel said, "If everyone who has a complaint shows this government a yellow card, if they turn on a red light and say 'my troubles have exceeded my capacity, don't just think about the rich,' then there is hope."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel expressed his pleasure in meeting with citizens on a rainy day during his speech at a public rally held in Ödemiş Government Square.
Özel spoke as follows:
"IF THEY SHOW A YELLOW CARD..."
"If on April 1st this government says, 'well, I raised prices this much, there was this much inflation, they suffered this much and yet they still voted for me,' there is nothing to be done the next day. The day after April 1st, retirees, workers, farmers, and tradespeople will face great difficulties. But there is something to be done 1 day before. On March 31st, the ballot box is in front of you. This election is not a general election, it is a local election; you will entrust your district to hardworking, honest people. But this election is also an election where a message will be sent to those who govern the country. If everyone who complains about scarcity, poverty, famine, low wages, inflation, and the cost of living shows this government a yellow card, if they turn on a red light and say 'my troubles have exceeded my capacity, don't just think about the rich,' then there is hope."
Özel stated that retirees in Turkey have a great sense of resentment, and that while money is found for everything, it cannot be found for retirees.
Stating that everyone sees the inflation, interest, and unemployment rates, and that young people are dreaming of other countries in the world, Özel said, "Three out of every four young people have already packed their bags in their minds. We have to be the hope of these young people and make them smile. We have to look after them, find them jobs, and tie them to this country. The party that will do this is the Republican People's Party, the party of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who saved this country."
Following his speech, Özel requested support for the metropolitan and district mayoral candidates.
