CHP leader Özgür Özel: 'We invite everyone who cast their vote to Saraçhane'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements in the courthouse corridor where the trial of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is being held. Regarding the fact that no detention order was issued for İmamoğlu in the terrorism investigation, he commented, "It is valuable in terms of preventing the appointment of a trustee to the will of Istanbul." 

Özel stated, "You cannot conspire against anyone and push them out of the game against the will of the people, and you cannot take away their duties and responsibilities. Today, those coming from all four corners of Turkey, those rushing in wheelchairs, and those climbing stairs bent over with two canes clearly show who is coming and who is going in this country." 

'IT IS CLEAR WHO IS COMING AND WHO IS GOING'

Özel said the following: 

"His only crime was defeating Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and because he would win in the next election, he was arrested. But we are facing two conspiracies. One of them was the terrorism allegation. The request for detention was rejected. But a detention order was issued from the other file. It is valuable in terms of preventing the appointment of a trustee to the will of Istanbul. But the necessary appeals will be made for our mayor to regain his freedom quickly. These appeals will be social appeals as much as they are legal appeals. The love and trust of the people who have been pouring into the roads and squares for Ekrem İmamoğlu for 4 days, and who are waiting in queues for meters all over Turkey today, are not in vain.

Stating that there is information that İmamoğlu will be transferred to Silivri, Özel invited everyone to Saraçhane Square once again. Özel continued his statements as follows: 

'I INVITE EVERYONE TO SARAÇHANE'

"There is information that he will be taken to Silivri right now. We are following it carefully. We invite everyone who cast their vote today to Saraçhane. Our expectation, and Mayor Ekrem's expectation, is that the great gathering at Saraçhane will take place today as well." 

Speaking about the arrest of Necati Özkan, Özel said: 

"They arrested Necati Özkan for bribing the IMM, a person who has not billed the IMM for a single penny and has not received 1 lira from the IMM. They also arrested a political communicator who only works with Mayor Ekrem and gives him ideas as a friend. I would like to point this out as well."

Ekrem İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, expressed the following: 

"I just want you to know this; our foreheads are clear, our heads are held high. Decisions made unjustly and unlawfully have no validity. All decisions made are political. We will continue on our path."
