CHP move from DEM Party, the ruling power's 'opening' partner

While operations against CHP-run municipalities continue, the appointment of Gürsel Tekin as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency has become a central topic on the political agenda. All eyes in the CHP are now turned to the party congress lawsuit on September 15.

The DEM Party, a partner of the AKP and MHP in the 'opening' process, has decided to pay a support visit to the CHP following these developments.

During the DEM Party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting held on Monday, September 8, it was stated that they stand against the interventions made into the CHP and that they will be in 'unconditional' consultation with the CHP. The possibility of DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan paying a support visit to CHP leader Özgür Özel was also discussed at the meeting.

According to ANKA, it was noted at the meeting that DEM Party members described the situation experienced by the CHP as an "open appointment of a trustee," and the view emerged that this situation had previously happened to their own party and is now being applied to the CHP in different formats and forms.

Furthermore, it was expressed at the meeting that these operations have "turned into a position that disrupts the peace process."

The DEM Party Assembly (PM) is planned to convene in the first week of October.
