CHP's Murat Bakan calls Hulusi Akar's conduct 'a very pathetic situation'

Bakan reacted to Commission Chairman Hulusi Akar due to the events that took place in the TBMM National Defense Commission. The CHP MP used the phrase "A very pathetic situation" in his social media post.

The Draft Law on Amendments to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) Personnel Law and Certain Other Laws was discussed in the TBMM National Defense Commission.

While the discussions were ongoing, former Minister of National Defense and Commission Chairman Hulusi Akar left his microphone on, and interesting moments were captured on camera. During CHP Ankara MP Murat Bakan's speech, Akar asked those next to him regarding the CHP MP, "What was the man's name?"

"NOT KNOWING THE COMMISSION'S OPERATIONS AT ALL"

Reacting to what happened in the commission, Bakan stated the following in his message:

"How sad... For a person who has served as Chief of General Staff, served as Minister of National Defense, and is now an MP in this country to ask a member of the commission about their party, 'Are they from the AK Party? Or the CHP?', and to not even be able to understand it from their speech; to not recognize an MP who has been in parliament for 9 years, who has submitted numerous parliamentary questions to him, and who has even spoken directly to his face and asked questions during budget negotiations; and as commission chairman, to not know the commission's operations at all...

The motion I submitted was about the rights of non-commissioned officers and specialist sergeants, who are the backbone of the TSK. He asks the person next to him the reason for the rejection of my motion, saying 'Why?', and 'Why' means the man is right... He sees that I am right, but the person next to him says 'information has arrived, we will reject it,' and it is rejected. In other words, not questioning... In other words, having no will of his own... What a pathetic situation. What a sad situation.

"I WAS SADDENED BY TWO THINGS"

You serve as Chief of General Staff, serve as Minister of National Defense, and command the TSK, yet you don't even know why a motion regarding the personal rights of soldiers brought before you is being rejected; you just say 'information has arrived' and reject it without questioning... This is a very pathetic situation.

I was saddened by two things. First; that the specialist sergeant and the non-commissioned officer have no value in their eyes, and that they reject a motion concerning their future without any questioning.

The other is Hulusi Akar's situation! He is in a state of mind wondering 'What am I doing here, what am I doing,' and is oblivious to the work he is doing. He acts according to the guidance of the civil servant next to him; he has no will of his own, and for him, saying 'information has arrived' is sufficient. I hope he at least questions the situation he has fallen into himself!"
