Claim: Hamas proposed a prisoner swap, Tel Aviv rejected it

According to a report by the Israeli news site "Walla News", which cited unnamed Israeli officials, Hamas is ready to negotiate a new prisoner swap with a new proposal it has put forward.

The report states that Hamas has presented a three-stage plan, proposing that in the first stage, Israel should begin withdrawing its forces from the Gaza Strip, where it has been conducting attacks since October 7, and that 40 hostages should be released.

It was reported that the completion of the three stages is planned to result in the release of the captured Israeli soldiers and the 'end of the war' in Gaza.

DISCUSSED BUT REJECTED

The Israeli War Cabinet discussed Hamas's proposal but rejected it, and requested that the mediators present 'more acceptable proposals'.

The report included the statement that "negotiations have not completely stopped, but no significant progress has been made either."

HAMAS INSISTENT ON CEASEFIRE

Hamas's armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel on October 7, citing "continuous violations against Palestinians and sacred values, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque," during which many Israelis were taken hostage.

During the 'humanitarian pause' in the Gaza conflict, which began on November 24 for 4 days and was later extended for 3 days, 81 Israelis and 240 Palestinians were released in a mutual exchange.

According to Israel, there are still 129 Israeli hostages in Gaza.

It is stated that while the Tel Aviv administration has proposed a 'humanitarian pause' in the fighting as part of a prisoner swap agreement, Hamas insists on a 'ceasefire' where attacks are completely ended.
