Claim stirring up CHP corridors: Özgür Özel's camp has held talks with two parties

As developments regarding the convention process continue within the CHP, it has been claimed that talks have been held with various political parties as part of an effort to evaluate all options.

According to a report by the pro-government newspaper Türkiye Gazetesi, it is alleged that Özgür Özel's team has been in contact with the Justice Union Party (Adalet Birlik Partisi), which has the eligibility to participate in elections, and the Innovation Party (Yenilik Partisi), led by former CHP deputy Öztürk Yılmaz.

Öztürk Yılmaz, who was elected as a deputy for Ardahan in the 2015 and 2018 general elections and served as a Deputy Chairman for a period, was expelled from the CHP in November 2018 following disagreements with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The report claims that Yılmaz, who opposed the decision of absolute nullity, has established communication with the Özel camp through his aides.

The report also included a notable detail regarding the Justice Union Party, which is chaired by İrfan Uzun.

It was stated that some CHP members have mentioned in social media posts that observer cards belonging to the Justice Union Party were used during the 2023 general elections. Furthermore, it is assessed that the party's positioning of itself on a "center-left" line makes it a prominent option among the possibilities.

PARTY NAME CHANGE FORMULA

According to the claim, figures close to Özgür Özel are also taking the possibility of an early election into account. It is alleged that the aides believe a party built from scratch might face timing issues regarding participation in elections, and therefore, they are evaluating the option of joining an existing party that already has the right to enter elections, holding a convention, and subsequently changing the party's name.

NEW PARTY OPTION ON THE TABLE

According to the information in the report, it is claimed that preparations for establishing a new political party are also underway in the event that the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu administration closes the door on demands for an extraordinary convention and no other solution remains within the party.
