The Ministry of Health issued a written statement regarding the claims of danger in vaccines due to the ATS. The statement from the Ministry noted, "A statement has become necessary due to claims appearing in some media outlets that do not reflect the truth, alleging that there is a 'danger in vaccines due to the Vaccine Tracking System (ATS).'

The temperature and stock tracking in the warehouses, refrigerators, and vehicles used for the transport of vaccines and antisera, which are managed and directed by our General Directorate across Turkey, are carried out regularly in real-time using 13 thousand 850 sensors and 12 thousand 890 temperature tracking devices," the statement said.

"CLAIMS OF DISRUPTIONS DO NOT REFLECT THE TRUTH"

In the statement, where the Ministry provided information on how the system's alarm algorithm works, it said, "The claims mentioned in the news that a new company was contracted and that disruptions occurred following the software renewal do not reflect the truth. The alarm algorithm in the current ATS is as follows:

If no data is received from a device for 30 minutes, the call center calls the relevant unit. If no data is received from the same device for 2 hours, information is sent to the Provincial Cold Chain Evaluation Commission. After the inspection, the commission decides on the usage status of the vaccine. Apart from these, issues such as battery replacement, timely provision of field operations and technical service, and software updates and improvements are also followed with sensitivity to ensure that the ATS system is constantly up-to-date and operational," it stated.

Stating that the purpose of this process is to ensure that vaccines reach citizens safely, the statement said, "The purpose of all these control processes is to ensure that vaccines reach our citizens safely via the ATS. Furthermore, there is no question of vaccines being wasted due to the system despite being sound. In summary, the information contained in the aforementioned news regarding the ATS system, which tracks the process of vaccines reaching the end user in accordance with cold chain conditions through a specific algorithm, does not reflect the truth. There is no situation that would require our citizens to have any hesitation regarding the cold chain conditions of the vaccines," it was stated.
